Awana Clubs International is a non-denomination, Bible-centered children’s and youth ministry who goal is to reach boys, girls, and youth with the Gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him. The acronym Awana comes from 2nd Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Thus, Awana stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” The prayer of the Awana ministry is “That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ”
Awana meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 8:30PM. Your child will enjoy all the fun Awana has provided the children of Central Baptist over the years. We have clubs for Kindergarten through sixth grade. Sparks is for K – 2nd grade, and Truth and Training (T&T) is for 3rd – 6th grade.
About our Ministry
As we hold this year’s Awana club at Central Baptist Church, we are looking forward to your child participating! We have a terrific year of activities planned.
The Awana ministry includes scripture memorization and understanding, game time, and a story time. Awana helps the church give children a sound Biblical foundation, which they can carry with them for their entire lives. Central Baptist Church’s Awana ministry is one of over 12,000 clubs around the world.
There are many ways for parents to help their children grow in their relationship with God through Awana. Specifically, they can work regularly with them on the verses in the Awana handbooks. They can also answer many questions their child may have as a result of participating in Awana, and encourage them as they work toward specific awards.
One of the Awana Standards of Excellence encourages us to make our Awana ministry fun and exciting for children to participate in each week. We are excited to have this opportunity to reach children and families in our community.
Throughout the club year, we have exciting events for the children and their parents to enjoy. These events include the Awana Bible Quizzing, Awana Sparks-A-Rama, Awana Games, and the Awana Grand Prix. Some of these activities do require preparation time outside of the regular club time, such as creating your own Awana Grand Prix car or Saturday practices for Quizzing and Games. We also encourage parents to attend our Wednesday night Bible study from 7:30-8:30pm while their children are in AWANA.
Please feel free to drop by and visit the club for a little while or for an entire meeting. Your participation, encouragement and prayers are both welcomed and appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office.
