Nursery
Ages 0 through 42 months
Our nursery is well suited to care for infants and toddlers (0-42 months). The ladies who care for your children are loving, competent and qualified in their ministry. Our goal is to give parents the opportunity to hear God’s Word, knowing their children are being properly cared for in a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
Children's Bible Club
Kindergarten through 6th Grade
On Wednesday evenings during the school year (September through May) our Children’s Bible Club meets for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. It is safe, educational, and fun! Kids spend the first 30 minutes of Bible Club in a structured class-room setting, where they are taught an exciting Bible lesson that reinforces family values, respect, and brotherly love, while emphasizing the critical importance of a right relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During the second 30 minutes, the kids work in small groups to memorize the verse of the week. The final 30 minutes is a fun filled game time, followed by a treat. CBC Bible Club is an excellent way for kids to learn the importance of a right relationship with God while making friends and having fun.
Children's Church
Preschool through 5th Grade
If parents prefer to keep their children seated with them in our church services so that they can worship together as a family, that’s great! On the other hand, if they prefer to have their children attend one of our children’s church options, it would be our privilege to serve the needs of your family! The options for children’s church are:
- Children’s Church: preschool-1st grade
- Junior Church: 2nd grade-5th grade
Children's Special Events & Activities
There are special activities and events planned each year for the children on our 10-acre site like softball, kite day, or frisbee-tag. But there are also other activities like a nature-hike in a nearby park. One week each summer there is also an exciting Vacation Bible School.
Teen Activities & Special Events
We have a teen class during Sunday School. And while at this time, we don’t have an organized teen group meeting on a regular basis during the week, we do have regular activities designed with teens in mind, such and bowling, laser tag, etc. We also take a group of teens down to North Carolina for a week of camp at the Wilds.
Family Builders Ministry
Because families in America are under spiritual assault, we’ve started a new ministry designed to strengthen families in our church and surrounding community. We call it “Family Builders”. We meet on a weekend night every other month for a couples’ night out. Everyone brings a dessert to share. It is a night of fun playing adult party games with lots of laughter. It is also a night of faith as we spend time looking at Bible principles building husband-wife and parent-child relationships. The abundant life Christ promised includes a family that is living for God making their community a better place to live.
Men's Ministry
On the second Saturday of the month, men from our church seek the Lord in prayer for the needs of our community and church family. Afterwards, we enjoy breakfast at a nearby restaurant. We also have events or activities of interest to men, such as a men’s retreat in the Fall, trips to an area sporting event or times of fellowship with other men from sister churches in the area.
Ladies Ministry
Christian friends are a treasure from the Lord. Our ladies ministry is all about enjoying Christian fellowship with sisters in Christ, and then reaching out to bring other ladies into the circle. In addition to having an annual ladies’ Christmas party and Spring Tea, we are on the lookout for events in the greater DC area that are of interest to women of faith.
Nursing Home Ministry
Central Baptist Church has enjoyed a long-term ministry partnership with the Bethesda Health and Rehabilitation Center (pictured on the right). As has been our custom for many years, we send a ministry team on the second Sunday of each month to lead a worship service for the residents and staff. A time of singing and prayer is followed by a brief exposition of Scripture. Believers are encouraged by promises from God’s Word and those without Christ are given opportunity to come to Him by faith.
Missions Ministry
Central Baptist Church has a heart for missions both overseas and here at home. We currently support 32 missionaries and mission projects.
